“Beyond Politics: The Man, The Father, The Final Farewell”

A Word on the Passing of Late President Muhammadu Buhari

In the quiet hours of our national memory, a solemn bell tolls. President Muhammadu Buhari, the General who became a statesman, the man who once stood as a pillar through decades of Nigeria’s turbulent journey, has taken his final bow.

But amidst the mourning, a chilling chorus echoes in some corners — a mockery of death. To those choosing to laugh rather than reflect, let us pause and remember: the death of a man, regardless of your politics, is not a spectacle for celebration, but a moment to confront the fragility of life and the dignity of humanity.

He was more than a former head of state. He was a father. A husband. A grandfather. A servant to his country — for better or worse, through war and peace, through triumph and error. He stood when many chose comfort. He carried the hopes of millions, and the burden of criticism too.

You may not have agreed with his leadership. That is your right — a hallmark of democracy. But joy at someone’s passing? That speaks not of politics, but of the bitterness festering in the soul.

Let us not be defined by scorn.

History will judge Muhammadu Buhari’s legacy. It is not for us to rewrite, only to reflect. But in the aftermath of his death, the way we choose to respond reveals more about us than about him.

Power fades. Titles vanish. Opinions evolve. But compassion — or the lack of it — leaves a mark that never fades.

In this moment, I choose dignity. Even in disagreement. Even in mourning. Even in silence.

May God forgive us all, and guide us to hearts softer than stone, kinder than anger, and wiser than pride.

ALLAH YA JIƘAN KA, BABA BUHARI.

ALLAH YA JADADDA RAHAMARSA A GAREKA.

Ameen.
