NIGERIANS TO STAY RESILIENT
From the Office of the United Nations Ambassadors (PEPOLAC)
Issued by: Amb. Dr. Leonard Oghenetega Obie.
Date: April 20, 2025.
As the Christian community in Nigeria and around the world marks the celebration of Easter—a season symbolic of renewal, sacrifice and resurrection—the Office of the United Nations Ambassadors under the Platform for the Engagement and Participation of Political Leaders in Achieving Peace (PEPOLAC), has joined national leaders and faith-based institutions in extending heartfelt Easter greetings to all Nigerians.
In a stirring message issued on Easter Sunday, the UN Peace Ambassador, Amb. Dr. Leonard Oghenetega Obie, called on Nigerians to seize the essence of the season to reflect deeply on the values of love, peace, and national unity.
“Easter reminds us that after every dark night comes a brighter morning,” Amb. Obie noted. “It is a sacred period of reflection, where we remember the ultimate sacrifice of Christ and are reminded that hope is never lost—even in the face of difficulty.”
Amidst ongoing economic pressures—rising inflation, unemployment, and widespread hardship—Amb. Obie urged citizens not to lose faith but to remain resilient and continue to uphold the values that bind us together as a nation.
“Our strength as Nigerians has always been our indomitable spirit,” he said. “In these testing times, let us recommit ourselves to working hard, supporting one another, and keeping our faith in God and in the future of this great nation.”
He emphasized that the path to national transformation lies in peaceful coexistence and unity across all divides. “Nigeria’s greatness is not in her wealth alone, but in the hearts of her people—united, steadfast, and hopeful. Peace is the bedrock of any lasting progress. I encourage every Nigerian to be a beacon of peace in their homes, workplaces, and communities.”
UN-PEPOLAC, he added, remains committed to championing peace, dialogue, and sustainable development through collaborative engagements with government, civil society, and international partners.
Concluding his message, Amb. Obie reminded the nation that faith and perseverance will always triumph over adversity.
“Though the times may be tough, our collective hope and unity will lead us to a future filled with promise. Let us rise above division and despair—and embrace the true spirit of Easter: peace, love, and rebirth.”
From all of us at PEPOLAC, we wish every Nigerian a joyful and meaningful Easter celebration.
